EP34 Recap
The Autumn Court Assembly becomes the most dramatic session in a generation. Before the full court, Xie Zheng presents the Jinzhou dossier piece by piece: the diverted supplies, the forged requisition orders, Prince Kang's seal, the quartermaster's sworn testimony, and the captured assassins. The evidence is methodical, irrefutable, and devastating.
Prince Kang, cornered, attempts to shift blame entirely to Qi Min. Qi Min, in turn, tries to implicate the Emperor himself. The court erupts into chaos. The Emperor, faced with the public exposure of his complicity, must choose: acknowledge the cover-up and preserve what credibility he has left, or double down and risk a full revolt of the military and merchant classes who now stand behind Xie Zheng.
In the end, the Emperor chooses self-preservation. He orders Prince Kang arrested and strips Qi Min of all titles and positions. He commends Xie Zheng's persistence — a bitterly ironic gesture from a man who tried to silence the investigation at every turn. Justice, imperfect and politically motivated, is finally served for the ten thousand dead at Jinzhou.
